WAV is a Boston band known for it¹s feverish
blend of Balkan folk
music, blazing jazz-chops, and sixties surf-band sensibilities, amped
up and pitched forth at an unforgettable rock-rave intensity.
The ensemble, which
is lead by Bulgarian marimba virtuoso Vessela Stoyanova and
composer/guitarist Troy Kidwell, features multiple percussionists, scorching
violin, middle-eastern vocals and has members hailing from Japan, Switzerland,
Lebanon, and Greece.
.WAV has headlined Boston shows at the
Berklee Performance Center, the Charles Playhouse, and the Coolidge
Corner Theater. The band has also been featured guests on radio stations
WERS and WZBC as well as playing the Knitting Factory and Mehanata in
New York City.
In 2001 .WAV was a featured act at the Festival of Bulgarian Culture
in Toronto. It was there that the band first performed with Yanka Rupkina

formed the creative bond, which has lead to this series of unforgettable
live collaborations.
